Dunny hands Rovers injury blow

David Dunn has been ruled out with the weekend’s big derby after having to undergo knee surgery for a problem picked up in training.

The matter, which will leave him out of action for up to a month, has seen him disappointingly missing out on the Rovers vs Burnley festivities, which he has been a key player in during recent times.

Dunn has been something of a haunter of Rovers closest rivals, with him contributing an equaliser in the 2009 fixture at Ewood which Rovers went on to win 3-2 before scoring the only goal of the game in the reverse fixture in 2010.

He then went on to score a very late, and highly undeserved leveler in last year’s Ewood fixture, when Burnley were all but set to end their now 34 year hoodoo of not beating their Blue and White counterparts.

But Dunn will not be factor in the weekend’s game at Turf Moor, with the news coming as a blow ahead of what is a highly anticipated clash which would see Burnley climb temporarily to the top of the table with a rare win.
