Greeks want Gato on loan

Somewhat surprise news coming out of Ewood Park with information coming out that suggests Greek side Olympiakos are in talks with Blackburn over the loan signing of Mauro Formica.

It is of course no secret that our Ewood Park lot are skint and badly need to reduce the wage bill at the club prior to making anything resembling a proper signing but the loaning out of one of the blue and white’s better players would still register as something of a surprise.

Formica himself has admitted that he was ‘homesick’ but since the news of the Greek’s interest has come out that stance has changed to ‘has struggled to settle in England’ but with very little in the way of a fee coming our way from a loan deal to let the Argentine leave this way would come as a baffling decision.

Venky’s have been silent through January so far over the situation at the club but it is known that Rovers need to raise cash/save money from somewhere and Formica could be one of the first ones to make his way out.

Olympiakos seem confident he’ll be their player by the end of the week but it still remains to be seen whether Rovers will let them have one our more promising member os the playing staff.

The two clubs do have previous as it was the Greeks who took Matty Derbyshire off our hands a few years back when Sam Allardyce was in charge.
