Hoilett deal getting closer (again)

Junior Hoilett’s will or won’t he contract ordeal is apparently reaching a conclusion with a decision likely to be a positive one for Blackburn Rovers.

Hoilett/Rovers have been dragging their feet over the new terms long enough to sustain even the healthiest of blisters but Kean is confident (yes, yes I am aware) that the deal is close.

Kean told Sky Sports – ‘I believe that we are even closer again.

‘I know Junior wants to sign and I think everything is almost in place for him to put pen to paper on a very long contract.

‘That will be massive for us and to ensure that the young players we are developing we can keep at the club.

‘There will always be interest when you get people of that ability.

‘The percentage of improvement has been quite dramatic and we are desperate to keep him.

‘The initial delay was length of contract, which has been sorted. Then it was package, which has been taken care of, and then a few minor things.

‘But it seems to have been dragging on. It doesn’t help when his family are over in Canada but I believe they will be over.

‘I don’t want to put a date on it though (Ed – Good idea Steve, that’s not exactly worked a treat so far) because I thought it would be done weeks and weeks ago.’

All joking aside there are a few well placed people on both sides of the deal making these same noises so fingers crossed the Kean ‘positive’ talk isn’t just the usual appease the fans rambling.
