The sad news that former Blackburn Rovers footballer Jackie Campbell has passed away has been revealed.

Campbell, nicknamed “Nudge” was a wing half with Rovers between 1946 and 1955 played more than 200 games for the club before leaving for nearby Oldham Athletic.

His former Rovers team mate Bryan Douglas said:

Jackie was more than just a football colleague, he was a great friend and a super guy. He was the life and soul of the party in my early years at Ewood Park – what a character. We all met up a few months ago when he threw a party to celebrate his 60th wedding anniversary and I am so sad to hear of his passing.”

Jackie Campbell passed away in his home in Spain aged 84-years-old. Campbell always maintained close ties with the club despite living in Spain, often attending games and social events.

My thoughts, as I’m sure everyone’s are with his family…
