Kean defiant in the face of protests

Steve Kean has stood firm in the face of protests aimed at getting him the sack after yesterday’s spirited but pointless display against Spurs.

An larger crowd than the previous sit in protest against Man City was present and stayed after the final whistle to voice their frustrations again.

A protest march also took place as planned prior to the match with Glen Mullan and Rover 23 also part of the display which went off smoothly, peacefully and without trouble.

But despite the calls for his head and the loud music designed at drowning out the protest after the match Kean is still adamant he’s the man.

But Kean told Sky Sports – ‘I don’t know if it is a large section of the crowd, and to be fair, I’m not really paying any attention to anybody who is staying behind.

‘I’m interested in my players and what they give me, and they give me everything every single day.

‘We are all together as a group and have the full backing of the club’s owners. I know the breaks will come for us eventually.’

‘The good thing from my point of view is that the majority of supporters were with us here.’

Kean also praised the spirit of the team yesterday after a vastly improved display which on fair merit, deserved more than the defeat suffered.

Kean continued – ‘I think the performance of the players and their application shows we are all together as a group.

‘We didn’t come here afraid – if you are playing against Tottenham you can think ‘let’s shut up shop and try to play on the break’, but it was the opposite.

‘I think there is a manner in which you can lose, and I thought we lost trying to win.’

So for those keeping score… Kean has gone from accurately assigning a percentage to the number of supporters doing the protests to not having any idea how many were there.
