Blackburn Rovers manager Mark Hughes was pleased with the point that we picked up in the 2-2 draw with Fulham on Sunday but he also feels we could have got all three.

Rovers fell behind to Danny Murphy’s second half penalty, but equalised through Brett Emerton, soon Fulham were ahead again through Diomansy Kamara’s controversial goal. However, Rovers were not to be denied and got the equaliser that the efforts deserved when finally they were able to beat Antti Niemi again (after he pulled off a string of superb saves) when Stephen Warnock levelled in the final ten minutes. This left Hughes pleased with the point, but he still feels we could have got more.

Hughes told Sky Sports after the match: “I thought we kept on playing and trying to do the right things and we got our reward it the end.

“We thought it was a game we should have won and I think we totally dominated. In general play we were the most progressive team.

“On another day we would have won the game
.”

However, Sparky was less than impressed with Fulham’s second as Kamara was clearly offside in the build-up to his goal, yet he was not seen to be interfering with play!!!

Sparky added: “The second goal – when the initial ball was passed forward – the lad who scored was in an offside position.

“In days gone by, when I played, that was stonewall offside but these days, with different phases and interference it becomes a lottery and that is the worry.

“It is not easy for officials, in fairness, and it has hurt us today
.”

  • Sparky is right on another day we would have won this game, but we showed our character to twice come back from a goal down to claim a point when we might not have got any!!!
The offside (or not!) was such a strange call though, but maybe JR was in an offside position for Emerton’s goal?

  • Fulham has become a hard place to go and get three points. I thought Fulham in spells were really good. They have a young, fast (except Kuqi!) squad who all battled well. I thought Murphy should’ve been sent off tho – couple of bad tackles. But credit rovers for getting back in the game and we did ave the best chances.

  • We did play well and had a lot of possession. Those Fulham players harassed and were quick to rovers players with the ball – we should have finished a few more chances tho – why Bentley didn’t stick out a boot from Warnock’s cross I’ll never know!
