Murphy lays down his plans

Rovers midfielder Danny Murphy has confirmed he is happy to stay at the club and see out his remaining year at Ewood Park, if the club make a sensible call over next season’s managerial arrangements.

Murphy himself has been something a disappointment this season, with him turning in some fairly abject displays in midfield and despite improving during Bowyer’s first spell in charge of the side has fallen away and out of recognition.

But Murphy, who is on huge wages in the Championship, has not given up hope of spearheading a Championship promotion push next season (sound familiar?) and is happy to stay if the conditions are right.

Murphy has told the Lancashire Telegraph – “We need stay in the division and then depending on who the new manager is and how the club is going to move forward will decide what certain players do – myself included.

“I`ve got another year left on my contract, I`m happy to stay and try to build a promotion push next season.

“The way Gary and Terry (McPhillips) have gone, I would personally leave them in charge.

“They know the club, they care about the club and you can`t argue with what they`ve done in the 10 or 11 games they`ve been in charge.”

Murphy is known to be unsettled with the amount of managerial changes at the club, and has even spent a few months in the wilderness under Michael Appleton training with the Reserves and Youth Team.

But despite having a less than successful campaign and the constant changes at the club, Murphy still maintains the vision from Venky’s is clear, eve if it has been a little (ed – a lot) flawed.

The midfielder continued – “I spoke to them when I signed and in my opinion their intent is very good and they are decent people.

“There have been too many people within the hierarchy all making different decisions and that leads to anarchy a little bit.

“I think when you go through the instability we`ve had this season and the number of managers we`ve had, you don`t give yourself a chance.

“I thought I`d seen it all, I thought I`d been around the block but this has been eye opening for me this season if I`m honest.”

One thing is for sure, if Murphy does want to play a role next season he needs to up his own game, because this term he’s not been even close to up to scratch.
