Rovers midfielder and long time servant Morten Gamst Pedersen has pledged his future to Blackburn after a strange few weeks where he was the subject of some controversial comments and fought back with a winning goal against Leicester.

The man now known as Pensioner was thought to be on his way out of the club after some sharp comments by Shebby Singh in a Fans Meeting a few weeks back and a reported transfer listing by the club but has since started two out of the three League games for Rovers in the Championship and and a sub appearance in the other.

A goal to cap a 2-1 win over Leicester led to more furore with Pedersen producing a walking stick in celebration, but despite the japes and counter japes the player has announced that he remains committed to the Rovers and has passed comment on a topsy turvy few weeks.

Pedersen told the Lancashire Telegraph – ‘It was a good celebration. When I arrived at Ipswich for the opening game, the walking stick was hanging on my peg in the dressing room!

‘I can’t control what people are saying. But if I have a problem with someone, I will go and see them and sort it that way. It is easier than doing it through the media.’

‘I am not going to say all my thoughts because I think that is between me, the management and the owners.

‘I try to keep things away from the media in that way. Of course I read newspapers, people talk to me and you hear things. Sometimes you are wondering what is going on.

The end of the week marks a landmark for Pedersen at Ewood Park and he seems to have no thoughts of moving on with the goal simply to move Rovers back up into the top division again.

Pedersen continued – ‘But Sunday is eight years since I signed for Rovers. I said earlier I am committed to Blackburn.

‘I was one of the first people to say this. I have had offers to leave before but I have stayed.

‘The main thing is to get back to the Premier League. That is where we want to be.’
