Players on the mend

Rovers are set for a boost over the next month with the return to fitness (and hopefully form) of some of their long term injury concerns.

The likes of Adam Henley, Paul Robinson, Lee Williamson and Mat kilgallon all ready to come back within the next month and they could prove useful with Rovers looking a bit threadbare in certain areas of the squad – certainly quality wise if not in number.

Henley in particular, who was a rare plus point in an otherwise difficult campaign last season is on the mend, and should be ready over the next fortnight.

‘It is massive for us, he has done ever so well,’ said Bowyer told the official Rovers site.

‘Unfortunately for us last year he suffered the blow, a double blow in fact, and he has worked very very hard over the summer.

‘Hopefully he is coming back into contention because he provides good competition for Todd Kane and he’s an excellent player in himself.

‘Todd knows that he’s got to step his game up to keep Adam out and that is healthy for the club.’

Williamson was also well received by the fans and the club last campaign, and he too will be raring to go, having recently signed a year extension to his Rovers deal in the summer.

‘Lee Williamson isn’t bad, he’s getting closer and closer, DJ is still a couple of weeks but he is progressing nicely as well.’ Bowyer continued.

‘They are important players for us because we are a young team and there are some experience missing.’

Bowyer has also stated that the club are hopeful of adding a face to the squad ASAP, with Leciester’s Ben Marshall being talked about as a possible signing.
