Rovers have been handed a massive pre-season boost with news of Jordan Rhodes signing a contract extension with the club, adding two years on to his existing deal.
Rhodes, who has been the subject of some fairly intense transfer speculation in recent days over a summer move, has silenced that particular section of the rumour mill by penning an improved deal that rewards him for an excellent two seasons at the business end of a football pitch at Ewood Park.
Speaking about his deal, Rhodes told Rovers Player – ‘I’m delighted, I’m very happy, it is a fantastic football club and I’m very lucky to be here.
‘I enjoy coming in every day and to have an extension of two more years on top of my current contract is a real bonus.
‘I was delighted to sign it, it is a club I enjoy playing for. The fans have been great ever since I’ve come in the place and I’ve just thoroughly enjoyed it so I’m delighted to be here.’
Looks like the speculation orientated gentleman at a certain tabloid newspaper will have to find a new object of desire for the forseeable future… well till January at least.
