Blackburn forward Roque Santa Cruz has been constantly linked with a move away from Ewood this summer by journalists everywhere. But if the narrow minded and ignorant people actually listened to the man himself… he is actually very happy here.

Santa was in inspired form last season, scoring 19 Premier League goals.

Arsenal, Spurs, Man City and Man United have all been linked with a move for the bargain of the 2007/2008 season, however the 26-year-old is only thinking of repeating his goalscoring exploits for Rovers next season.

Speaking to a Paraguayan News Channel in his homeland, Roque said, “Many said my transfer to a bigger club was impending, but I am used to this now and my attention is focused on Blackburn,”.

“I am happy for the great season that I had, the important goals I scored for a small club.’

“The plan is to have a better season with Blackburn.”

Before anyone comes in going la la la, small club and the usual tripe about how he is motivated to go elsewhere, let me repeat what i normally say….

If Rovers don’t want him to leave, he will stay and Roque will be pleased to stay. And score another sackful for the Blue and White army next season…. ROLL ON.

  • Just a snippet of comment from Santa there, and reassuring to here. Not that it will stop the papers mind… but those in the know will be better off for hearing that.

  • We wont lose Brad… we would be stupid to. Clubs may be interested in him but that doesnt mean we will accept bids. Paul Ince wants Brad at the club next season.

  • RSC will stay we’ll prob give a few bob more to ensure it. Although I will say one thing what paper in there right mind seriously thinks he’s only worth 10-12M he hit 19 in the prem he’s worth an easy 20M minimum!!!

  • Good to hear, but Santa is a man of honour anyway isn’t he so despite ALL the speculation we’ve believed him all the time haven’t we? OKAY if an offer too good to refuse comes in he might go, but we have no need to sell him so why should we as he is worth more to us here than he is being sold!

  • Perhaps Roque’s had his time bench warming at a ‘bigger club’ already and prefers the likelihood of regular first team footie at BR?

  • Yep, I second that mikey. And as for the price… maybe if he has another great season his value will rocket?

  • It is already pretty high but 2 great seasons is rare… it would make him £25 million easily. He is very capable of a 2nd great season.
