Rovers complete double swoop

Rovers have this afternoon announced the signings of previously on loan duo Tom Cairney and Rudy Gestede.

Both players had seen their initial loan spells come to an end yesterday but Rovers have moved quickly to finish the deal to see them become Rovers players on a full time basis.

Gestede has completed the mere formalities of his move to Ewood Park after a short loan spell from Cardiff City, the initial deal did have a set fee and terms for his permanent transfer to be concluded in the original agreement so the opportunity for a hiccup was limited, and so it has proven.

Cairney on the other hand has been subject of a ‘wrangle’ between parent club and loan club with a little bit of interest from elsewhere sprinkled in – but the player has stated his preference was always to be at Ewood Park and Cairney has his wish, completing a move from Hull City after a successful loan spell.

Both players have signed three and a half year deals at the club.

Gestede has a bit to prove with only a handful of games so far, but the move of Cairney can only be seen in a good light, with the former Leeds trainee already an undoubted hit with the Ewood faithful.
