The draw for the 2006/2007 UEFA Cup has been made with Rovers handed a two legged first round tie with Salzburg.
Rovers will be away first with the first leg tie taking place in Austria on Thursday 14th September, with the second leg at Ewood Park two weeks later on Thursday 28th.
The Austrian side will be a tough opponent having dropped down to the UEFA Cup after being knocked out by Valencia in the Champions League qualifying round.
Meanwhile a former Rovers target Nicolas Anelka has joined Premiership rivals Bolton for a club record fee of £8 million.
