Blackburn Rovers goalkeeper Frank Fielding has joined Leeds United on a one-month emergency loan deal.

The England Under-21 International joins Leeds as cover for Casper Ankergren, who will come into the Leeds side after the League One sides regular number one Shane Higgs was injured last Saturday.

Fielding goes straight into the Leeds squad for the match against Carlisle United on Tuesday evening, however, the 21-year-old will be a substitute for the League One leaders.

  • Not great moral boost for the lad… has to move away for just one month… to sit on another bench not doing anything… really dont see the point in this….

  • When we send a player out on loan does that mean the other team pays his salary for that period, a set fee or is it just pro bono so the player gets some experience?

  • Depends on the loan.. i know newcastle are paying zurabs wages…. but cant really see this lad being on more than a grand a week tbh…

  • the loan club normally pays the wages. Zurab is on about 20k a week so we did well to get him off the bill for a few months at least! This will work out fine for a month – Leeds need a good goalie and now they have one, problem solved!
