Blackburn Rovers look as though they will be offering Quinton Fortune a contract until the end of the season.

The former Manchester United and Bolton Wanderers Midfielder had been on trial with Sunderland, but they decided not to take up the option to sign him, so he came to Ewood Park and has been with the club for several weeks. Now Mark Hughes has indicated that he is prepared to offer the South African a contract for the remainder of the current campaign in order for him to prove himself worthy of a possible longer stay.

Hughes told the Lancashire Telegraph: “It’s a situation we are still looking at. We’ll be fair to him.

“We probably still need a little bit more time to look at him in certain situations, but it may be an option for us to have him from now until the end of the season to give him a chance to impress
.”
