Paul Lambert has signed Doneil Henry from West Ham United to (and bring him back) make him his first signing as Blackburn Rovers Manager.

Henry making a return to Blackburn is something we’ve consistently heard speculation about, however, this had gone very quiet and wouldn’t have been a move I expected but this was made to bring him back from West Ham on loan until the 3rd of January.

When he was on loan last season (in his short spell) he made a really good impression and impact at Ewood Park before his loan (and season) was ended abruptly by a hamstring injury with former Rovers Manager Gary Bowyer always keen for him to make a Rovers return.

Now he has Henry’s looking forward to being back, he told The Official Blackburn Rovers Website: “It is great to be back here again, it is a great club.

“The last time I was here I felt really welcomed, I got tossed in right away and felt it was made really easy because of how great the guys were here.

“So I’m just looking to train hard and play my part and give all I have for the team.

Obviously Henry was an option being explored by Rovers before Bowyer was sacked with Lambert happy to go with this, which he’s right to as if he can pick up where he left off last season we’ll be as happy to have him back as the twenty two year old is to be back!!

Another defensive option is something Lambert wanted with the Manager saying: “I’m delighted to be able to bring Doneil back.

“I know that he did very well last time he was here, prior to his injury. We felt that it was important to add an extra body to the defensive department and Doneil was the obvious choice.“

Its funny Henry signed for Rovers last season before the SkyBet Championship meeting with Sheffield Wednesday (making his debut only hours later) with his second Rovers debut possibly coming against The Owls on Saturday afternoon!!

The only difference being this match will be at Ewood Park this time and not at Hillsborough.
