Blackburn Rovers have today completed the signing of Union Deportiva Cornella defender Hugo Fernandez for a nominal fee.

A three year deal has been signed after months of back and forth negotiations, but the signing has been completed.

As of next season the young lad will go into the academy squad as Rovers continue to build from ‘grassroots’ level up.

The player has been coveted by clubs in Spain and across England but has plumped for Rovers.

An interesting side note in all of this is that it is reported the player was really impressed with the professionalism shown by Rovers.

Both Sam Allardyce and Michel Salgado met with the player to convince him to sign for Rovers.

  • Good on Salgado for getting in his ear….anybody see Salgado as a future back room staff member?….now go have a chat with guti and raul lol

  • Alonso and Benzema anyone!? lol. I see Salgado is used as almost a spokesman for the club as well as a player.

  • See! I told you he was brilliant! Salgado is awesome, hes insane (which is very good for a defender), and is totally worth the money we are paying him.
