The BRFC Action Group have released a statement this morning detailing the finer points of a meeting held yesterday with Premier League chairman Richard Scudamore.

Scudamore has been in the news recently after assuring fans that owners Venky’s were above board and that the club was in safe hands under their stewardship despite minimal public evidence pointing to a grave cause for concern with regards to the future of the club.

As a result the Group met yesterday with a large dossier in hand and with problems to discuss and this was the outcome.

The statement read – “The BRFC Action Group met with Richard Scudamore of the Premier league on Wednesday to put across the growing concerns surrounding the long term future of Blackburn Rovers.

We are pleased that Mr Scudamore gave us an un-prejudiced opportunity to put across various bits of information and documentation which had not been previously looked at by the Premier League.

He showed throughout the hour and half meeting an understanding and warmth towards the group and wider supporter base. He spoke in detail about the Premier league`s legislation surrounding the fit and proper test and the in depth enquiries made when an application for new ownership of any club is made.

We were satisfied that the Premier League had carried out every reasonable step possible to ensure that the sale of Blackburn Rovers Football Club from the Walkers Trust to Venkys had gone through every safeguarding measure possible.

Mr Scudamore assured the group that Blackburn Rovers was not a closed case despite their relegation from the Premiership and he will continue to look at any evidence presented which could suggest malpractice or contravenes the rules and regulations of the Premier league.

The Premier League has a zero tolerance towards issues which can bring our national game into disrepute, and their message to all clubs are clear and transparent.

Any evidence provided which shows a clear breach of such legislation will be thoroughly examined, and the necessary steps and punishments will be implemented forthwith.

The BRFC Action group will continue dialogue with the Premier league and will offer full co-operation should any case need to be heard”
