Steve Kean has received the full backing of the owners shortly before Rovers dispatched of Pune FC in the first ever match played by a Premier League side in India.

Rovers triumphed 3-0 in their only match of their first team trip to Venky’s headquarters with goals from Ruben Rochina and two from Jason ‘Barn Door’ Roberts.

Prior to the game though Venky’s made their feelings clear on the current managerial dilemma at the club.

In short, they are ignoring calls for the managers head and they are full behind him.

But Balaji Rao is quoted in the Daily Mail as saying – ‘The team is in the relegation zone right now, but it is going to come up I am sure of that.

‘We do know that a few people have been generating thousands of mails demanding the ousting of current manager Steve Kean, who is a brilliant manager.

‘As far as investment goes, in the January transfer window, we will take a call at how we would be improving the squad. By then we will get a clear idea of where we stand.

‘On the whole the goal of playing in Europe over the next four to five years is a realistic one.’
