Blackburn Rovers’ run of unwanted events continues!

Having gained an unwanted achievement last weekend for our first back to back Premiership defeats in some time after losing to West Ham United, following Sunday’s Premiership defeat at the hands of Aston Villa we gained another! An unwanted hat trick of consecutive Premiership defeats?

For the first time in sixteen months Rovers have suffered three Premiership defeats on the spin following our 2-0 loss to Aston Villa at Villa Park. This defeat followed the 1-0 home defeat at the hands of Bolton Wanderers and of course last weekends 2-1 defeat at Upton Park as we faced West Ham.

The last time we suffered three consecutive Premiership defeats happened between January 24th and February 5th 2005 during the 2004-2005 season! On that occasion we started the run again against Bolton, again at home and again with a 1-0 loss! This was followed up with another home loss, this time against Chelsea and again with a 1-0 scoreline. The run that time continued with another 1-0 defeat on the road at the Riverside Stadium as we lost to Middlesbrough.

The game with Villa was always going to be a tough one with them unbeaten at home this season but was one we should have been looking at (with all due respect to Villa) as one we shouldn’t have been losing.

We REALLY need to get back to winning ways and soon! But things don’t get any easier as we now face a rampant Manchester United on Saturday in the evening televised game followed by a resurgent Tottenham Hotspur fresh from a victory over defending Champions Chelsea the week after!

What we would give for a repeat of last seasons 4-3 win over United at Ewood Park again this Saturday, but this will be highly unlikely though won’t it?

Will our run of defeats stretch to FOUR or can we somehow overcome the mighty United? Have your say below?
