The good members of Vital Blackburn have voted that if we get any offer around the £20 million mark for Roque Santa Cruz in January then it would be a good time to sell.

£20 million is a lot of money to re-invest back into the team and could benefit the team as a whole.

A large majority felt that £20 million would be the right amount to sell Santa Cruz for – especially as he seems to want out.

The results in full –

£20 million for Roque Santa Cruz in January – deal or no deal?

– Yes 64%
– No 11%
– Only to a club abroad 25%

Getting voting on the new poll. Who would you want out of Ewood first?

  • I personally feel with the re-emergence of Roberts and Benni as a force the £20 million could come in handy… is it worth hanging onto him if his heart isn’t in here?

  • I don’t think his heart lies with us anymore. We will be lucky to get £20 mill. Somewhere inthe region of £15 mill – £18 mill, and then we can get a quality right winger! Put Emerton in the middle and demote Andrews to the Bench/reserves…

  • I think when/if Grella and Dunn get back Andrews will be in his squad player position but we HAVE to use him at the minute. Allardyce seems to quite like Keith though.

  • only worth selling for 20 million if that money is made available for transfers if not made available its apointless exercise and i would rather keep him get him fit and get him back in the team scoring playing with benni

  • Exactly Glen, I mean where is the money we were meant to sign a right winger with gone?? We spent f#ckall in the Summer like and now all of a sudden we need to sell Santa Cruz in order to finance transfers in January. I am not comfortable with the idea of selling our best striker when we’re fighting for our lives at the bottom of the table. What would happen if Benni Mac got injured, are Roberts and Derbyshire going to score the goals to keep us up.

  • I wouldnt mind selling him, if his heart isnt with us (which I think is the case) and I would prefer to do a “deal” with city if its the right one rather than straight cash. What about Sturridge and 8 mill? Lets face it we arent going to find another striker like Santa even with 18 million, but a young quality striker AND some cash…

  • Spinny – we actually prob still have it available. Just because we didnt use it in the summer doesnt mean it aint available to use. And if Benni Mac got injured we would have bought a replacement striker anyway. With £18 million we can do a lot – especially with the manager we have.

  • A replacement striker?? You can’t replace Santa Cruz unless your willing to reinvest most of that £18million to buy a quality striker and that wont happen! We will end up buying someone on the cheap like Diouf and spending the rest to strenghten other positions.

  • Spinny – a replacement striker who is a bargain will do just fine. McCarthy is reinstalling himself as the premier striker with his second striker partner of Roberts. Derbyshire always makes an impact. Sadly the stats speak for themselves as far as Mr.Cruz goes – 4 goals and numerous injuries this season meaning that 18-20 million is a great bit of business. especially when Lucas Podolski is available for 10-12 million (if City had any sense). A replacement striker needs to compliment the squad not be an exact replica of Cruz. The rest should be used on the rest of the team – that will beneift us more than just buying another world class striker.

  • I still think its a mistake Mikey, everything should be done to make him stay until the end of the season when we’re safe!! I know he’s only scored 4 goals so far this season but that was under Ince’s uninspiring reign when the entire team was laking in confidence. He’ll do a lot better now that Big Sam has the lads up for it again. £18 million seems too good to turn down but at this moment in time I dont think its a god deal for us.

  • Fair enough Spinny. I am sure all will be told over the next few days. I like your confidence – WHEN we are safe. I like it.

  • If Roque wants to leave lets allow him to leave. He hasn’t been anywhere near as effective this season as he want last term. His injury history is a problem, and the niggling injuries are starting to mount up. It (in my opinion) is only a matter of time before a serious injury is picked up again, so anything above £15 million should be taken.
