Rovers manager Henning Berg has insisted that promotion is still the aim after an alarming slump that has seen Rovers claim only a single point from the last four games.

Berg has not had the start to Blackburn Rovers life that he would have desired with only one win coming in his first eight games, which has left Rovers in 13th place in the league with two games to go until the league’s halfway point.

But Berg insists time is indeed a friend to the blue and white’s of East Lancashire and aims to sort things out across the spectrum under his control.

berg told Sky Sports – ‘The target is still promotion, of course we have put ourselves in maybe a more difficult position than we would have liked, there is no doubt about that.

‘A few weeks ago we were looking to build on the Huddersfield and the Peterborough performances and we were not able to do that.

‘We are assessing things as we go on and we will make sure that we do the right things in the future – improving the team, improving the squad, making sure we put us in a position where we can be promoted.

‘No one has ever said anything about it being easy and we just have to make sure that we keep our heads and are doing the right things.’
