Blackburn Rovers were able to confirm Leon Best’s departure for Derby County on Monday, which finally meant we could offload the striker!! For a season anyway!!
Best isn’t in Gary Bowyer’s plans, when the Manager doesn’t use you in pre-season that often you should get the hint but when they don’t even issue you a squad number you know you’re not wanted!! The striker isn’t wanted at Ewood Park and isn’t going to be around this season.
A season long loan has taken the twenty-seven-year-old to our Championship rivals, however, he’ll not feature against us in either League meeting but has been given permission to play for The Rams in the Capital One Cup and FA Cup.
What happens if we are drawn against Derby in either of these Cup competitions??
This loan doesn’t necessarily mean we’ve seen the last of Best though as he’ll still have another year on his Rovers contract when this loan officially ends at the end of May 2015, we’ll just have to hope that he’s successful and they want to sign him on a permanent basis when this loan ends.
