Bowyer: A Decent Point

I’d think it’s fair to say that most people (even with this at Ewood Park) would’ve been happy with Blackburn Rovers getting a point against Derby County wouldn’t they??

So the 0-0 draw with Derby at Ewood on Wednesday evening was acceptable.

Much focus was (and now is fully) on Burnley’s visit on Saturday lunchtime, however, The Rams had to be negotiated first and given their form recently and the 4-2 win they had over Wolverhampton Wanderers on Sunday afternoon the threat they had was well known.

Defensively Gary Bowyer thought we were spot on and responded well to the defeat against Milton Keynes Dons.

The Blackburn Manager told The Official Blackburn Rovers Website: “I thought it was probably the most tactical game we’ve played this season. I thought everyone was terrific, we were never cut open or threatened, Jason Steele has had very little to do so that is credit to them.

“Everybody saw Derby on TV on Sunday and saw them score four goals. With the fire power that they’ve got, the squad that they’ve got, and the money that they’ve spent, they are rightly favourites to win the league.

“But it was a wonderful effort and response from our players tonight following the disappointment and the frustration of Saturday, it is a fantastic result.

Could Rovers have got more from the match?? John O’Sullivan nearly won it at the end but it wasn’t to be.

Bowyer took the point but thinks it could’ve been more, adding: “We could have nicked it but we just needed that bit of luck. Any other time you see a deflected shot like John O’Sullivan’s it goes in but on this occasion it falls into the keeper’s hands.

“All we can do is keep showing that level of commitment and effort, the supporters appreciated that and got behind us.

“It is a decent point but maybe we should have got more.
