Rovers manager Gary Bowyer has stated his pleasure at the battling qualities his side displayed to come back from the potentially killer blow of Junior Stanislsas’ late strike.

Rovers looked dead and buried after a beauty of a striker from the Burnley substitute, but recovered to see Jordan Rhodes bundle one home via deflection to earn a share of the spoils.

It was probably just about the right result given Rovers improvement in the second half, with a more controlled, measured approach to their passing play ensuring a better look to the side. In truth Rovers had looked nervy and ragged in the first half but got better as the game wore on.

Bowyer himself was just pleased to see his young side show the character he wanted from them.

‘When we go 1-0 down with around 10 minutes to go, and the average age of the team was 22, you do wonder and question how they’re going to react,’ the Rovers boss told the Lancashire Telegraph.

‘But, in a hostile environment, we’ve got nothing but praise for them because they came back with a fantastic attitude and spirit, and in my opinion fully deserved the equaliser.

“They leave with their heads held high because they took everything that Burnley threw at us in the first half and grew into the game.

‘I thought our second half performance certainly warranted a point, the goal they scored was a worldy against the run of play, but then our goal was a bit lucky.

‘The age of the team, the resilience, the character and the spirit that they showed, we leave here very proud.”

Rovers are now unbeaten in three, with a tough test against Leicester City on the horizon on Tuesday night.
