Rovers manager Gary Bowyer is assessing his options in the emergency loan transfer window, with the gaffer insisting there is no need to add names to the squad list just for the sake of it.

Rovers were looking a few weeks ago at bringing in a more robust, stronger striker to give the side an option later on in games. but that need had died down after the return to favour of Leon Best and the injury comeback of DJ Campbell.

But even so, options are being assessed and moves will be made if there is appropriate value to be had.

“We are still looking and we are still speaking to people,’ Bowyer confirmed to the Lancashire Telegraph.

“We`re still taking in games and talking to people but we`re not going to bring someone in just for the sake of bringing someone in.”

Sensible stuff.

The loan market is a better option as it will provide Rovers with short term cover, with squad already at a capacity in terms of size and wages there is no need to further clog up the wage bill with longer term contracts.
