Rovers manager Gary Bowyer has committed himself to Blackburn Rovers for the coming season, with reports surfacing in the press in the last 24 hours linking him with the vacant Leeds United manager post.

Bowyer, who has a 12 month rolling deal at Rovers, has overseen a transitional phase at Ewood Park in first annum in the job was rumoured to be on the shortlist for the manager’s job left free by Brian McDermott – but the link seemed strained and fanciful at best.

‘I am fully committed to building on the foundations we have put in place over the past 12 months,’ Bowyer told the Lancashire Telegraph.

‘There is a strong sense of unity with all concerned at Blackburn Rovers and I look forward to that continuing as we plan for next season.’

Bowyer has done a good job at Rovers so far, and it would be difficult to imagine him anywhere else come August.
