Rovers have this afternoon announced the departure of the former defender Colin Hendry from his role as an under 21 coach at the club.

The Scot, who is very much a cult figure at Ewood for his two stints at Rovers, one as a stalwart in the Premier League winning side of 1994/95, has left a brief statement.

“I`ve enjoyed the last couple of seasons working with Gary Bowyer. I wish him well and hope he can guide Blackburn Rovers back into the Premier League.”

Hendry, who was hired as a first team coach under loathsome former manager Steve Kean, moved position from the first team to under-21 development but has now been released from his contract.
