Blackburn Rovers produced a superb opening to the match against Leeds United on Thursday evening to come away from Elland Road with a 2-0 win from the LIVE Sky Sports match.

If it means Blackburn will start like that (and most importantly win) perhaps a Thursday match more often wouldn’t be bad!! It was certainly unusual to have a match on that evening though, however, they seem a little more frequent now as Sky Sports get even more matches shown!!

This win against Leeds was the first Rovers had managed away from Ewood Park this season in the SkyBet Championship (which funnily enough was also the first away win since one at Leeds in April!!) with Craig Conway (after only seventeen seconds) and Jordan Rhodes (on six minutes) scoring the early goals to blow Leeds away.

Gary Bowyer was (understandably) happy with him telling The Official Blackburn Rovers Website: “We knew we had to come out and start properly and it was a wonderful start.

“I thought we were terrific with the ball and very disciplined without it.

It was a superb start from Rovers, which is something we want to see more often as if we can come out of the traps like that on the front foot it puts us on the offensive and gives us a positive start we’re not showing enough.

Don’t make this a one off Bowyer!!

The Rovers Manager added: “We focused on ourselves and concentrated on producing the level of performances that we have been producing this season. We really concentrated on getting the rewards and we’ve done that tonight.

Bowyer has always been quick to show his appreciation to the supporters and he did that again with GB (as well as for himself and the team) delighted for the supporters, who have continued to show support and back (on the whole) Rovers home and away.

GB also said: “They’re an honest bunch and they work hard for each other and I`m delighted for the supporters, they’ve stuck with us and they’ve given us terrific backing.

Now the real test is can Rovers finally (which we constantly do without carrying it forward consistently) get a string of results going, build some forward moving momentum and climb up the Championship table!!
