Hands up if you remember Anthony Modeste?? The former Blackburn Rovers striker (who flopped at Ewood Park) could return to England to sign for Arsenal!!
I’d forgotten about Modeste (at least I tried to forget about him as you do many other players you’d rather forget), who spent a loan with Blackburn during the 2011-2012 Premier League season and struggled.
In his defence he wouldn’t have been alone though would he!!
A return to the Premier League (and certainly not to someone like Arsenal) isn’t ever something I’d expected, however, reports in The Metro (which came from Espiritu Deportivo) were something I’d noticed recently and startled me. He’s been in impressive form for Cologne this season having rebuilt his career during a spell with Bastia in France and then Hoffenheim in Germany before the move to Bundesliga side Cologne over the summer.
This has seen him catch Arsene Wenger’s eye so we could see the twenty seven year old back in the Premier League with The Gunners but he’ll cost them a princely sum as his contract does run until 2019.
Not something I’d expected (or expect many to care about, as it’s nothing to do with Rovers now) to find myself deciding to write about!!
