Blackburn Rovers have points (at least a point) on the board with our first of the 2015-2016 season collected at Huddersfield Town on Saturday afternoon.

The unbeaten run Blackburn have been on at The John Smith’s Stadium continued, however, we needed to come from behind to earn a 1-1 draw after falling behind to an early Nahki Wells goal, which Gary Bowyer wasn’t happy with as David Raya had saved well but no one for Rovers reacted to clear the danger before Huddersfield’s Wells did.

A first was one Bowyer was keen to forget but thought we showed a terrific spirit and response to get back with the impact wanted got in the second half and especially from those summoned from the substitutes bench.

Bowyer told The Official Blackburn Rovers Website: “Their goal rocked us, it was a poor situation that lead to a couple of corners, David pulled off a fantastic save but we were slow to react to the rebound.

“But we made the changes in the second half and they had a massive impact, they were terrific. That is what you want from your substitute’s bench, to go on there and make an impact.

Nathan Delfouneso was that man to come off then bench to equalise for Rovers, scoring what was his second goal for the club (the dubious goals panel awarded him the goal in The League Cup defeat against Shrewsbury Town) to get us a point.

That goal and the second half performance brought praise with the Rovers Manager who thought a winner would come.

Adding: “It was a great goal, a good team goal.

“There were ten passes in the build-up, Marshall hits a fantastic ball to pick out Fode and he did terrifically well to set his mate up and it was a great finish because he could have quite easily blasted it.

“That was the impact that you wanted from them. The energy that we showed late on, I thought we looked fit, strong, and we kept driving on trying to get that winner.

With the squad still trying to get to know each other because there are players that have only been in the building for a couple of weeks Bowyer felt this is getting better and will improve still with more hard work at Brockhall, however, more importantly on the pitch with the matches coming thick and fast for us.

The next of these with be against Cardiff City at Ewood Park on Tuesday evening.

Jordon Rhodes isn’t likely to be involved in this one though after he was forced off with his ankle injury again and that (forgetting the fact those that wanted him no longer do!!) will mean it’s likely Rhodes will remain this side of Christmas anyway we’ll be hoping he’s fit to feature more often than not though!!
