Rovers could be set for a weekend boost with the news that David Dunn could be in the squad following his return from his latest injury.

Dunny has been out of action since September after undergoing minor surgery prior to the Cotton Mill six weeks ago. But after a decent recuperation period and a training build up the Rovers favourite could be in contention to face Middlesbrough on Saturday… providing he can pull through the next few days OK.

“He`s trained with the development squad this week and will be involved with the first team today and tomorrow,’ manager Gary Bowyer told the Lancashire Telegraph.

A return for David is a very welcome boost, it is often forgotten the influence he can have because he does have a documented history of picking up injuries.

But prior to his latest setback this season Dunn was a class above everyone else – having him back in the squad will give us some much needed creativity.
