Blackburn Rovers midfielder David Dunn looked like he would be set for an extended spell on the sidelines, but the news is better than first thought.

A calf injury meant that Dunn had to miss the Newcastle United win last Saturday, but scans have shown that the injury is not as bad as first feared and he could return for the match with Fulham (and former Rovers manager Roy Hodgson) at Ewood Park this Saturday.

Rovers manager Mark Hughes said: “I do not think he will be out for any length of time. Hopefully he will be available this week.”

Dunny has really been in top form recently, so if he can return this Saturday it will not only be a boost to him, but obviously Rovers as well.

  • Dunny is getting back to his very best (the possible England recall claims just won’t go away either will they) so it would be SUPERB if he can return this weekend, but we DON’T want to rush him back, but Sparky wouldn’t do this anyway.

  • He wouldnt rush him back of that I am sure but to get Dunny back and fit quickly is a major boost… a major boost.

  • Dunn at the min is prob our main man in the centre of midfield, albiet Tugay is genuis and I really like Reid lol but losing him forces Hughes to put Bentley in the middle where I think he is not as effective as he is on the wing, he’s good, but not the same player. Dunn is getting back to how he was while he at Rovers the 1st time and that has to be good news, as he is quailty when on form

  • Dunn plays a lot more for the team now as opposed to himself and he has been an asset as Tugay cannot be played every game. He doesnt have the fitness at 37… but Dunn does,

  • Dunn has def come on leaps and bounds under Hughes, shows u wot having the rite manager can do for certain players, its one in the eye for Souness and Bruce who could never get the best outta him!! Wait till u see Reid next season as well, I think that he will show his best as well with hopefully a full season behind him. I think at the min he’s not giving the full welly as he’s scared of getting injured again, but I do believe he will be a great asset for Rovers in midfield and rite back
