Blackburn Rovers were understood to be interested in signing Rasmus Elm in January, however, Elm has denied these rumours.

The 21-year-old was believed to be unhappy at AZ Alkmaar after struggling to make much of a breakthrough with the Dutch club since his £4 million arrival from Kalmar last summer and this has seen Rovers linked with a January move for the Swedish International. However, the midfielder has denied that he’s unhappy with Alkmaar and also denied that he’ll be coming to Ewood Park.

Elm told Fotbollskanalen (being asked if he was joining Rovers): “I am definitely not.

“That’s totally made up. I like it a lot in Alkmaar.

Personally I would’ve been happy to see Elm come to Rovers but always thought that paying the reported £4 million would be a sticking point, however, if the player himself doesn’t want this anyway then there’s no chance. This was nothing more than idle gossip then!!
