Evans Backed To Deliver

Blackburn Rovers midfielder Corry Evans has been given extra time off before returning to pre-season training next week but when he’s back he’s been backed to deliver.

Having missed a large chunk of last season due to a serious ankle injury (picked up on International duty with Northern Ireland) his going away on International duty this summer would’ve left some of us a little concerned, however, Gary Bowyer had no problems with his International call up and believes that this would’ve actually done him so good after the months he missed.

The Rovers Manager also believes that his end to last season and the impressive displays for Northern Ireland over the summer will benefit us with the way the 23-year-old ended the last campaign after his injury lay off showing the quality he possesses with him to show his real quality this season with a full pre-season under his belt.

Bowyer told The Lancashire Telegraph: “He’s had a good rest and now we’re hoping he can have a really good pre-season and show what a good player he can be.

“He isn’t the biggest of players but he has got a massive heart, he gives everything he’s got and he does a bit of everything.

“He does the tackling, he can pass and play it forward and he showed against Bolton with the quality of his goal that he has got a shot on him.

It’s also thought that Evans isn’t going to be the only one that will benefit from pre-season either as you can’t underestimate the benefits of having this. I do like Evans and his background does suggest that he really has something about him that I’d also agree we’ll see in full this season, if he can stay fit!!
