Cowie Becomes Available

Speculated Blackburn Rovers transfer target Don Cowie could’ve potentially become a little more likely following his release by Cardiff City, however I don’t expect him at Ewood Park.

Saying that the midfielder was released by Cardiff isn’t entirely true as it’s more a case of him deciding against signing a new contract with our Championship rivals so he’s become a Free Agent after leaving on Thursday.

Gary Bowyer looked to sign the 31-year-old back in January as we attempted to add the Scottish International to fellow former Cardiff teammates Rudy Gestede and Craig Conway but this didn’t happen. We’ve continued to be linked with him this summer as well as his former club Watford and Glasgow Rangers.

With us looking to cut costs and fall in line with the Financial Fair Play Rules being enforced I’m not certain he is one we’ll bring in as his wages (not excessive mind) could prove a problem with Bowyer more likely to compliment his squad with the younger players we’ve secured on professional contracts in my honest opinion.

I could be wrong mind, as I often am!!
