Earlier this week, Jack Payne was secured on loan from Premier League side Huddersfield.

Payne, formerly promoted from League Two and Championship in recent years, so is therefore looking to complete his Football League set with Blackburn, was recalled by his parent club from a spell at Oxford before heading to Ewood Park for the remainder of the campaign.

The former Southend forward – a Player of the Year winner and promotion winner with the Shrimpers – joined Huddersfield in the summer of 2016, being a part of the Terriers’ side to claim Championship promotion to the Premier League last season.

In his 34 games for Oxford this season, joining them last summer, Payne, 23, had scored seven goals, featuring against Blackburn in November.

He could make his debut against Fleetwood on Saturday; Tony Mowbray will almost certainly include Payne in the matchday squad anyway.
