Blackburn Rovers are always going to be hopeful the Academy players we’ve got coming through will break into the first team squad with Lewis Hardcastle one such example.

I couldn’t say if he would or wouldn’t do this with Blackburn, however, we do know the seventeen-year-old has been allowed to join Evo-Stik Premier League side Salford City on loan for a month that takes him through until Saturday the 24th of October.

Head of Academy Eric Kinder told The Official Blackburn Rovers Website: “We think Lewis will benefit from having a month at men’s football.

“Salford are an up and coming side and it is well documented who their owners are.

“They approached us and asked to take him so we were more than happy as it can only be good for his development.

It’s the former Man United lot that own Salford isn’t it?? If they’ve had any input into the midfielder’s selection (based on his ability) then they’re good judges of quality aren’t they, which must bode well for Rovers going forward and will hopefully mean in the years ahead he’ll have a successful career at Ewood Park!!

Hardcastle has played for both the Under-18 and Under-21 sides for Rovers so far this season.
