Blackburn Rovers manager Paul Ince has launched an attack on England manager Fabio Capello for his treatment of Paul Robinson.

The Rovers goalkeeper was initially omitted from the last England squad for the friendly with Germany last week but when Manchester City goalkeeper Joe Hart was injured Robinson was called in as his replacement. However, the 29-year-old didn’t even make the bench for the 2-1 win and this has led Incey to hit out at Capello and his farcical treatment (as he put it) of Robbo.

Ince told The People: “I was gutted for him, the whole thing was farcical. Paul’s performances this season have been England standard no question.

“Being put on England stand-by was only a back handed compliment and then the insult was compounded by the fact that he wasn’t even a sub.

As Robbo wasn’t even in the original squad (even if he should’ve been) then with him coming in after Hart’s withdrawal was it really a surprise that he didn’t make the bench?

  • Ince should shut the ***** up, stop worrying about england and concentrate on getting us some form and points. We’re second from bottom and this is what he spends his time talking about

  • I agree, we’re in a world of trouble at the moment, this is the last thing I want to hear about!! And anyway Robbo has conceded more goals than any keeper in the top flight this season so is it really that surprising!!

  • football is a team game though guys and the goals conceded are not all to blame on robbo. He has been in better form than James, Carson and a few others but like Durks says – Ince concentrate on us not England. england dont pay your wages.

  • Dont get me wrong Mikey, I’m not having a go at Robbo, I actually think he’s been quite a good signing for us, but if you’ve conceded 25 goals in 14 matches with only 2 clean sheets in that time I can’t really see how you can make an arguement for him to be honest!

  • The main thing, and main point to pick up on here dudes is the “focus on us and not England” thoughts shared, which I fully agree with.
