Blackburn Rovers have warned Arsenal off their Norwegian left winger Morten Gamst Pedersen.

The Arsenal chief is believed to be ready to up his bid to 8 million in a bid to tempt Rovers boss Mark Hughes to part company with the Rovers fan favourite.

But Sparky has put to bed any thoughts that the part time pop star will be leaving…

Rovers boss Mark Hughes said (in the Sun): ‘He isn’t going anywhere and particularly not for £8m considering the price of players now.’

Blackburn face Arsenal on Sunday and Sparky added: ‘We’ve heard nothing from Arsenal and, in the week leading up to the game, possibly someone has been a little bit naughty.

‘It isn’t based on any fact. We’re not interested in selling Pedersen.’

Good news all round for Rovers fans… I for one am delighted as we need to keep our best players to progress…. Bring on Sunday!!!

  • I think this is a story designed to unsettle the player before we play them, I don’t see much substance in it. Love the subtle drop of ‘pop star’ in there mate.

  • You beat me to this one again Mikey monster!!!
You couldn’t blame ANYONE for wanting MGP, but wanting and getting are two different things aren’t they.
Double that £8 million price and something might happen, but if Rovers DON’T need to sale (which they don’t!) why should they.

  • It is exactly that, you ALWAYS see something about a player or manager going to the opposition (when they are one of the “bigger sides”) when Rovers are about to play them don’t you.

  • roversman, the insinuation that this was a ploy from Arsenal because we are due to play you on Sunday is laughable. Your paranoid manager appears to be under the same misconception judjing by his cloak and dagger comment. If this were the case we’d do it evry time we were due to play anyone.

  • Why sell??? who could we find of equivalent value and ability??!?!? No-one… HDM, I’ll say it again… snooze you lose.

  • Players agents (and I would even go as far as saying MGP’s agent COULD have done it) do this kind of thing all the time, especially when teams are meeting each other.
Unless MGP ever wants to go then he WILL NOT be sold. It is quite possible a time will come when he wants to go, but we cross that bridge when we come to it.

  • you guys are more paranoid than lawrie sanchez and more dillusional than a spurs fan. He’s a good player, but the rumour came from ‘the people’, to assume arsenal planted it to unsettle him before we play them you’d have to be *****in’ joking. arsene isnt a nutter, that tactic is more up mourinho’s alley.

  • Ozi Gooner, don’t under-estimate Arsene’s nouse, he is a great tactician and a master of mind games. It was a thought I’d come across that I thought was worth sharing. Clearly the Arsenal boys and the poor Spuds fan don’t share my sentiments. Fair enough. Ozi, I’m in total agreement about the source but these things generally come from a quiet word from someone connected in someone’s ear. Wow, I actually do sound quite paranoid!

  • Someone at the Arse slipped a quick doobie in the ear of a ‘People’ reporter….yeaah riiite!!!! Arsene is more up market than that, it’d be the Mirror at worst
