Rovers are set to loan holding midfielder Amer Abdulrahman from Emirates club Bani Yas, according to a report from Sport360.

The UAE based website has stated that the player’s parent club have confirmed that the player ‘is not for sale’ but has been loaned to Rovers ahead of the new season.

Bani Yas’ Deputy Chairman told 360 “Blackburn were in touch, they sent a letter (Ed – beats trying to use the fax machine I guess). He is not for sale but we will send him out on loan. He will go next week and train with them and after that stay for the season.

“We are hoping he will come back at the end of the season with more experience to help in the future.”

Bani Yas are of course the same club that Rovers were due to sell Mauro Formica to before a failed medical scuppered that deal.

No word from Rovers on this one as yet but looks a goer.

More on this one as things firm up and become a tad more official…
