The Portuguese exodus continues

Rovers forward Edinho Junior has signed for Conference South new boys Whitehawk on loan, initially for a month.

The striker was signed last summer, as part of the influx of Portuguese talent bought to the club by Global Advisor Shebby Singh. But he has been conspicuous by his absence with just one league start (a woeful 45 minutes against Leicester) and a League Cup appearance to his name, he has been deemed surplus to requirements by boss Gary Bowyer.

The non-league side on the other hand are thrilled with the acquisition, which does have the option of an extension if need be.

Whitehawk boss Darren Freeman told the Brighton Argus – ‘I tried to get him towards the end of last season but there were a couple of clubs interested and I was just too late.

‘He can play a lot higher and we are delighted that Blackburn have allowed us to take him for a month.’
