Rovers Look At Cuellar And Spence

Blackburn Rovers are in need of defensive recruits really aren’t we, we’ve all agreed that we are a little short on this. What we couldn’t entirely agree on was whereabouts??

Right-back looks a little short with central defence also light in my honest opinion so with this in mind Gary Bowyer is looking at two Free Agents with both training with us and expected to feature against Bury tonight.

The vastly experienced former Glasgow Rangers, Aston Villa and Sunderland defender Carlos Cuellar has been training at Brockhall with us with the thirty-two-year-old Spaniard perhaps a particularly interesting option as he’s got the versatility of playing at right-back or central defence.

Also training with us is former West Ham United twenty-four-year-old defender Jordan Spence, who left the Premier League side at the end of his contract this summer. He too can play in central defence or as a full-back.

He enjoyed a couple of successful loan spells with Milton Keynes Dons in League 1 last season and speculation has linked him with a number of clubs but Bowyer has given him the chance to impress.

In the short-term Cuellar is an interesting option but as we’ve maybe got to think more long-term perhaps Spence would be the better option, however, it’s almost certain to be one or the other as I can’t see that we’ll bring in both (if we bring in either) will we!!
