Blackburn Rovers are looking to end the run of successive defeats when we play at Ewood Park for the last time before Christmas against Charlton (who we’ll face in the FA Cup in January).

It’s important that lost ground is made up quickly so a third defeat in a row is something that Gary Bowyer will know we can ill afford as three defeats could quickly become four or five with so many match coming up.

We beat Charlton at the Valley (3-1) in April last season, however, that was our only win against The Addicks in the last four matches we’ve played against them. The last time we beat Charlton at Ewood we were both in the Premier League (April 2007).

After going nine matches unbeaten we’ve suffered defeats in our last two matches (2-1 against Sheffield Wednesday and then 3-1 against Brentford), including our first at home in six matches.

Charlton on the other hand have won only once in their last eight match since the 21st of October and only twice in eleven away match in all competitions, however, they’ve lost only three times this season.

Bowyer could give Josh King (back) some involvement after his goalscoring return in the Development Squad in the week. Ten matches missing is long enough really!! Tom Cairney (ankle) is fifty-fifty to make it with Matt Kilgallon (knee), Chris Taylor (illness) and Chris Brown (knee) there or thereabouts so at the moment Tommy Spurr (groin) is our only definite absentee.

Charlton’s Rhoys Wiggins (foot) and Johnnie Jackson (calf) will be out with injuries, joining Simon Church (dislocated shoulder) and Franck Moussa (knee) with Nick Pope set to retain his place in goal because Stephen Henderson (shoulder) isn’t ready to return yet, which he might have after mistakes last Saturday.

Three defeats in row isn’t going to make for a very Happy Christmas for Bowyer and the boys so it’s important we get back to winning ways really and I think that we will.
