Rovers have ended their pre-season training camp with a victory, winning a low profile encounter with Fabio Nunes’ former side Portimonense 1-0.

In blissful Mediterranean sunshine Rovers again fielded two near different sides in each half, with an early Leon Best goal inside 15 minutes capping a strong move that ended with Nunes rolling the ball across goal for an easy tap in.

The match also saw a 90 minute performance from trialist Yann Songo’o who continues to impress and is looking to score a deal at Ewood Park.

The victory was also the climax to Rovers’ week long training camp in Portugal which has seen the players undergo a rigorous training schedule of two sessions a day with the aim to improve fitness levels that we sorely lacking last season.

The squad head back to the UK tomorrow and face Crewe Alexandra on Tuesday night with season now 3 weeks away.
