Any thoughts of Rovers flogging Junior Hoilett to the highest bidder in January have gone flying out of the window with news surfacing that Rovers have put a £18 million price tag on Junior Hoilett.

Hoilett is out of contract in the summer and has been stalling since forever and a day on a new deal as the club and the player are apparently quite far apart on the size of a release fee that would exist in any new contract.

Newcastle and Spurs have been credited with an interest in the winger but will likely but put off by the over the top price tag on the Canadian who has been with Rovers since the age of 12.

If Rovers are successful in riding out January with Hoilett still at the club and the young flyer doesn’t agree to extend his Ewood stay then the club faces the prospect of losing Junior to a tribunal hearing and picking up a sum considerably less than the money they are asking for in the January window.

Expect this one to go down to the wire.
