With the August 1st deadline on, each Premier League club had to nominate a maximum of 25 players to participate in all competitions, with 8 of those required to be home-grown and over the age of 21. What most clubs did was, because they could not fulfil the quota of 8 home grown players, they cut the senior squad into a smaller squad, taking into the account the availability of several under 21 players.
Blackburn Rovers named 21 senior players to fulfil the quota, and are as follows
Paul Robinson (HG)
Martin Olsson (HG)
Chris Samba
Gael Givet
Ryan Nelsen
Brett Emerton
David Dunn (HG)
Nikola Kalinić
El-Hadji Diouf
Vince Grella
Morten Gamst Pedersen
Mark Bunn (HG)
Steven Nzonzi
Keith Andrews (HG)
Michel Salgado
Jason Brown (HG)
Frank Fielding (HG)
Pascal Chimbonda
Mame Biram Diouf
Jason Roberts (HG)

As well as this, we have the likes of
Phil Jones
Junior Hoillet
Grant Hanley
Josh Morris
Amine Linganzi
Plus and endless number of juniors.
All in all, I still think we are an attacking midfielder short, and Brett Emerton should be somewhere in the starting squad!
