Rovers to wait on Williamson scan

Rovers are anxiously awaiting the results of a scan on midfielder Lee Williamson’s hamstring strain, after the midfielder was forced to retire from Saturday’s game in the first half.

Williamson was replaced by the lumbering Dickson Etuhu around the half hour mark after complaining of a problem and Rovers now have to wait to see if the hamstring problem – which are notoriously difficult to diagnose by their nature – will rule the former Portsmouth and Sheffield United player out for a length of time.

Rovers are hopeful that given the international break timing and our boys next game not being for another 2 weeks means that Lee won’t miss any game time.

‘It is his hamstring, it is disappointing that he’s had to come off, so we’ll see how it goes over the break and hopefully he’ll have time to recover.’ Bowyer told the official website.

‘But we’re fortunate that we’ve got players coming back that will add something to the squad.’

It is a blow for Lee given that the main question marks over the man lie not in his role or his ability to do his job in the side, but in his fitness record which has always been hit and miss.
