Rovers manager Gary Bowyer has been informed by the club’s owners Venky’s that he is under no instruction to part with striker Jordan Rhodes during the upcoming January transfer window.

The club face the prospect of trying to offload some serious timber from their current wage bill over the next couple of transfer windows but despite fears this sacrifice would have to be made by any means necessary the Rovers boss has been assured that no star striker sale is required.

‘The owners have told us we don’t have to sell Jordan Rhodes and he isn’t for sale,’ said Bowyer the BBC.

‘We have had a meeting and it has gone well. The meeting has been planned for a while.’

‘After the recent accounts, we have discussed the January transfer window and where we go from here. But they were firm that Rhodes is not for sale again, which is obviously great news for us.’

There are a backlog of players who would be better to candidates to face the chop given the actual productivity that has been churned out in return for their substantial wages but the question remains who would be keen to take them on?

Etuhu? Best? Dann? The list goes on…

The money will have to come from somewhere. We’ve just got to hope it isn’t from one of the few who is worth what he is taking.
