Blackburn dropped out of the automatic promotion places on Saturday when Plymouth ended the unbeaten run, which had stood at 18 League One games.
Having arrived in Devon as the favoured side, Blackburn went behind, surprisingly so, when Reuben Lameiras volley past David Raya, who wasn’t able to celebrate his new deal with a clean sheet.
Defeat was confirmed, well, at least Plymouth’s lead doubled, when the experienced Ryan Taylor scored ahead of half time, wrapping up a the Pilgrims’ victory and pushing them further away from danger.
It goes without saying Tony Mowbray was disappointed – for the travelling fans as much as anything – the unbeaten run came to an end but knows this would have happened at some point, what reaction is seen will now be important.
He told the Official Website: ‘It’s always disappointing when you don’t win a football match. I’m disappointed for the supporters, who travelled a long way to watch us. The run was going to end at some point and it’s about how we react. We have to take the defeat on the chin and move onto the next one.’
Mowbray went on to say he thought Blackburn had ‘been a lot worse’ during the unbeaten run at times, but also concedes periods have seen Rovers ‘a lot better’ too.
The boss also took some of the blame himself.
Adding: ‘I think that’s partly my fault because of the team I picked. Between confident players who had done well in the last week or so and picking a team that was full of energy and drive.’
